Take about three or four potatoes and cut them in round shapes uniformly. Now warm up about two cups full of water with salt and tip in the potato pieces one by one. Once it has been done for about ten minutes switch off the flame and take them out on a paper plate or in a container of your choice.

The next process is to light up the gas and add some mustard oil or oil of your choice; around three to three and a half tablespoons warm it well and in that hot oil tip in quarter teaspoon of carrom seeds, a quarter of asafetida as well as equal quantity of fenugreek seeds. Stir them all well for half a minute and as it starts to release aroma add salt as per taste, couple of pinches of turmeric and cayenne pepper for taste and color. Now, stir it all and drop the potato slices into it. Turn the gas to a low flame, keep stirring and in order to avoid burns add a splash of water. Let it all come together as you mix all of the ingredients well. Let it be cooked for about five to six minutes and check if it is done. Take the liberty to add in more minutes if it is not. Check now for the salt add in if required. Mix it all up.

This dish is ready for plating. Let the kids savor it with chapatis or rotis.
